[In an effort to avoid obnoxious lines of loaned out witticism, consider this a verbal (written) disclaimer that I am completely aware of the unoriginal nature of this blog's title. Perhaps some acne ridden teenager in the midwest, who has subsequently lost the use of his legs from lack of circulation, has constructed a thesis on 'blog etiquette'. I have yet to be gifted said dissertation. Ignorance is bliss! ]
Aside from Dr. Seuss, Oscar Wilde is my favorite author of all time; that should likewise be noted.
Recently I have enjoyed scouring old-school American Philosophy including the works of one Dr. John Dewey who has been hailed as our most influential philosopher and charged with co-founding the school of pragmatism. For me however, he will always remain the voice which indelibly etched a singular breath of truth in my psyche, one that will most certainly enjoy an intellectual itch indefinitely. He says 'the deepest urge in human nature is the desire to be important'. AND I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE! The sign of a true egotist. This realization sent me into a hypersonic spiral via research with the help of speed reading and ADHD.
Not only does the infamous and cuddly Freud concur with Dr. Dewey, but so do most prominent surveyors of human behavior. Further perusal through numerous hyperlinks, tabs, and the occasional reluctant glance at wikipedia; taught me that both aforementioned gentlemen, as well as the majority of the thinking community, had all but added background music to a universally accepted truth that claims there are only two motives for humanity. Every last human action is in pursuit of Sex or Greatness. TOUCHE!
All I ever think about are passion and my own quest for infamy.
Apparently these professionals have also surmised that we rarely if ever quench these fires. That I refuse to believe. Sure the lonely ball itching trailer park fat ass doesn't help the rule of averages. But if the reality here is a lack of social appreciation, which is their basic reasoning, then this pessimism can be easily avoided and this social phenomenon rewritten for the optimist in us all (or just me).
BE SINCERE! If individuals were driven by integrity, passion, mutual respect, and supported by an impeccability of word, then human interaction would not only be far more ideal but far less like a head game. I personally have no desire to waste these moments, days or years on silly rules I don't believe in for vapid representations of people I don't care to discover. Every day I give you, each variable of my time spent on earth that I share, is a gift (another sign of an egotist). However, I see each allotment from you in the same way, and trust I receive it with all the giddy grandeur my lack of humility will allow.
'Say what you mean and mean what you say'. Perhaps the answers to the tricky questions really are as simple as (what I will from here forth refer to as) 'The Duh Philosophy'. And perhaps a soul that is genuinely enveloped in mutually selfless passion has found their greatness and can rejoice in what their peers have deemed an unattainable satisfaction. Or maybe nothing will ever be enough. Either way, I'd rather live in the bright eyed pursuit of two dreams worth dreaming, than blindly accept only that which resides within my grasp.
